The Hornady CX (Copper alloy eXpanding) Projectiles are premium lead-free hunting bullets designed to deliver exceptional accuracy, deep penetration and outstanding weight retention on medium to large game. Developed as the successor to Hornady's highly successful GMX projectile, the CX combines modern ballistic performance with reliable terminal effectiveness, making it one of the most advanced monolithic hunting bullets available today.

Constructed from a single piece of copper alloy, the CX eliminates the possibility of jacket-core separation and routinely retains over 95% of its original weight after impact. This exceptional weight retention allows the projectile to penetrate deeply through heavy muscle and bone while maintaining consistent terminal performance across a wide range of hunting situations.

Featuring Hornady's patented Heat Shield® tip and aerodynamic boat-tail profile, the CX delivers high ballistic coefficients, flatter trajectories and reduced wind drift. Unlike traditional polymer tips that can deform under aerodynamic heating, the Heat Shield® tip maintains its shape during flight, helping preserve ballistic performance at extended ranges.

Upon impact, the Heat Shield® tip initiates expansion, causing the projectile to open into a large mushroom shape while retaining its structural integrity. The result is a projectile capable of producing large wound channels while still delivering the deep penetration that monolithic bullets are known for.
